Listen—Imagine--the   shrill whistle of the steamboat--Grab your hat and take a Sunday Excursion cruise on the water highway through the wilderness of Pend Oreille area from the 1890s to 1910.   At one time there were almost a dozen large steamboats offering transportation for people, mail, animals, and freight.  Steam & gas launches- log barges-tugboats- plus a bustling boat building industry were all pat of the exciting life in our counties past.
