A Short Look at the Pend Oreille County Historical Society

The official name of this organization is the Pend Oreille County Historical Society, Inc. The Society collects and preserves artifacts that reflect the history of Pend Oreille County and adjoining areas to use and display for educational purposes. The museum and grounds are located at 402 S. Washington Avenue in Newport, Washington, approximately 50 miles northeast of Spokane, Washington.

Under the direction of the Board of Directors, the administration of the Society is handled by four officers, and the day to day operations are carried out by committees consisting of society members and volunteers. Membership in the society is highly encouraged as the Historical Society and Museum is dependent on membership funds to operate. Membership is open to anyone who wishes to join and yearly dues are a very reasonable $10.

Membership meetings are held monthly. Our success is because of our volunteer staff, including board and officers. Consider joining the membership of the society and/or volunteering, as your help is vitally needed and greatly appreciated.

Contact the society for more details or a membership application. The best way to explore volunteer possibilities is to drop in around 10:00 a.m. on a Wednesday work day at the Museum.

We looking forward to meeting you!
